Dal Shorba is very healthy soup with no compromise in taste. Dal Shorba (also called Muligatawny Soup) is made out of lentils and can be prepared in a short time. Who wouldn't relish yummy soup especially when it is cold outside?
Ingredients:
- 1 cup RedGram dal/Masoor Dal
- 1 onion (Medium sized)
- 2 Tomatoes
- grated ginger
- 3 garlic cloves
- black pepper powder
- mint and coriander
- Salt (as per taste)
- Dry red chilli flakes (optional if you like it spicy)
Preparation:
- In a Pan heat oil and put garlic cloves. Saute for few seconds.
- Now add onions , little salt and saute till onions turn light pink in color
- Add tomatoes and grated ginger and saute for few more minutes.
- Now transfer the contents into presssure cooker and add washed masoor dal.
- Add enough water and pressure cook (according to your cooker specifications) till Dal is cooked completely (should be mushy so make sure to add enough water)
- Let it cool and make it into paste (better if you put it in a blender)
- Now bring 3-4 cups of water to boil and once water starts boiling, add above mixture to the boiling water .Now put salt, pepper,mint and boil it till raw smell of dal is gone.
- Garnish with Corriander leaves and if needed garnish with chilli flakes.
